Fascinating!
Great documentary dealing with Tania Head, who falsely claimed to be a 9/11 survivor & over the course of several years became a key part of the Survivor's Network, even giving tours of Ground Zero to Mayor Giuliani & Governor Pataki. It's riveting to watch as she weaves this intricate web of lies & deceives everyone around her. I highly recommend this film.
Good, but something is missing...
I can't put my finger on it but I just came away from this documentary feeling as though something is missing. It is a very interesting tale and something that I didn't hear about apparently a few years ago when this women was exposed. I guess I wish the documentary should have gone into more detail on the thesis that everyone "wanted a piece of 9/11." Maybe I would have liked it to expand the story of this one woman into a more general commentary on the benign exploitation of tragedies. If you don't know the story of Tania Head, I would recommend this documentary but if you already know the story the documentary doesn't expose any new information as far as I can tell.
Ultimately frustrating
We're told from the blurb that this woman was a fraud, so going into the movie I already knew I was going to hate her. It might have been a more heart-wrenhing documentary if I didn't have that advance knowledge -- perhaps I would have been on Tania Head's side, only to gradually learn that she was a fraud.
Still, I give the filmmakers kudos for bringing this odd story to us. It was well-produced, and I thought the "animated" scenes added to the "unreality" that was created in Tania Head's head. It's just dismaying to be given a "spoiler" as a movie description.
